breitengraser contemporary sculpture wurde offiziell zu Beginn des Jahres 2000 von der in Berlin, Chicago und New York ausgebildeten Kunsthistorikerin und Journalistin Andrea Breitengraser (Jg.68) gegründet.

Das Konzept der Galerie ist es, das Medium Skulptur vertreten durch internationale, junge Künstler in regelmäßigen Einzelausstellungen zu besprechen. Ausschlaggebend für die Zusammenarbeit ist die klare künstlerische Artikulation des Mediums Skulptur in seiner zeitgenössischen Ausprägung. Künstler werden eingeladen, speziell für breitengraser contemporary sculpture Ausstellungen zu entwickeln. Die kontinuierliche Folge von etwa 6 Einzelausstellungen pro Jahr soll es ermöglichen, unterschiedliche skulptural-künstlerische Auffassungen miteinander zu vergleichen.

Der Künstler und das curatorische Prinzip unterwerfen sich erst im zweiten Schritt der Notwendigkeit der Finanzierung der einzelnen Projekte. Hier wird auf Förderung durch Institutionen, Privatwirtschaft und den Kunstverkauf zurückgegriffen.

The concept and motivation of the gallery is to show contemporary sculpture in its many forms. By representing young, international artists through regular exhibitions and, with it, connected activities such as talks and interviews, their work can become publicly known. A determining factor in the collaboration with chosen artists is the clear, genuine articulation of sculpture through contemporary expression. Artists are invited to develop an exhibition especially conceived for the room for contemporary sculpture. The continuous succession of six solo exhibitions per year is intended to produce varied sculptural-artistic interpretations for comparison and discussion.

breitengraser contemporary sculpture is a private showroom and intellectual meeting place, in the "American style": where the curator first finds artists of high quality and then secures funding for their exhibitions. Here, the assistance of public and private funding and revenue from art sales becomes necessary.

El concepto y la motivación de la galeria son mostrar escultura contemporanea en sus múltiples formas. Representando artistas jóvenes e internacionales a través de exposiciones regulares y, juntamente, potenciando actividades conectadas tales como debates y entrevistas, el trabajo de éstos puede alcanzar un reconocimento público. Un factor determinante en la colaboración con los artistas escogidos es la clara y genuina articulación de la escultura en su expresión contemporanea. Los artistas son invitados a llevar a cabo una exposición especialmente concebida para breitengraser contemporary sculpture. La sucesión continuada de seis exposiciones individuales por ańo ha de facilitar el desarrollo de interpretaciones artísticas variadas, para su discusión y la comparación entre ellos.
